Getting Started In Affiliate Marketing Quick And Easy
What’s the best way to get started in Affiliate marketing? The first thing you need to know is what to sell and your market. Affiliate programs range from selling information products to selling merchandise from known retail stores.
OK, you have decided what to sell and the audience you wish to sell too. Next you need a website to sell your product or products. You have all seen the URL above in the search area; this is the website address. You need to find a domain name which is similar to your store name. If you are selling widgets then something like http://www.widgets.com would be good or if you want to sell a individual product say like a dog bone, then something like http://www.dogbone.com would be good.
Note* these are examples only not knowing if these address are used or not.
Domain names can be obtained from GoDaddy.com for a very reasonable price of $7.99 per year or sometimes even less. You will need to host your domain name (website) so people can find you. I use HostGator which offers hosting packages starting at $4.95 per month, a very reasonable price. Click here to see what HostGator has to offer.
OK, now you have a product, a web address, and a hosting company; what’s next? Now you need to design your website. At first, don’t try to reinvent the wheel. Start with a template, obtainable for free or a small fee. HostGator offers hundreds of free templates with their web hosting packages and free website building software. Your website should be user friendly with a navigation system that is easy to follow always giving access back to your home page.
There are many free affiliate networks to obtain products to sell from leading retailers nationwide. Here are a few of the Affiliate Suppliers I use.
1.)ClickBank-Digital products mean instant delivery and faster commissions . Commissions of 75% are common.
2.)Commission Junction-Probably the biggest supplier of affiliate products and merchants.
3.)Google Affiliate Network-Growing quickly like their search engine.
4.)LinkShare-Another top supplier of merchants and products.
5.)Shareasale-One of the big boys in Affiliate Products.
6.)PepperJam Network-A fairly new company growing at a fast pace.
The way these companies work, you apply for a account (totally free) and then sign up for affiliate programs that may interest you. The merchant will review your application and then approve or disapprove you as an advertiser. Once approved you can pick the products you wish to market. Commission rates for products very from 2% to 12% depending on the merchants.
Another great way to start quick is using companies who will list millions of products from hundreds of merchants. You may sign up free with these and pick products in many different formats to display on your website. I use PopShops and GoldenCan for building store fronts with many options. I recommend checking them out to see if what they offer might help you to get started quickly. Here is an example of one of my stores using PopShops: BigBoysHobbyShop.com were I sell remote control cars, boats, planes, and trucks.
This gives you an idea how to get started quickly and using the proper tools, how to easily be up and running. My next article will show you how to promote your website so people can find you on the World Wide Web.
